On April 12th of 1975, there was a devastating attack in the Saint Lucrision's Hospital of Providence. Two days before, During a blood transfusion, patients contracted a bacterial reaction through the machine, and from reports, it led to severe side effects. Patients reported headaches, swelling, hallucinations, inflammation, lesions and "rotting skin." Two days later, Patients also went through mental breakdowns, and the staff was unable to keep them quarantined. An alarm went off, and people were able to escape the building in time; some victims weren't. Quarantined patients attacked people as they went insane. Those who were still alive called the Police, and the Police were forced to shoot the patients dead. Overall, 51 other patients and 12 staff members were killed, and 27 were wounded. All five quarantined patients were shot dead. The Saint Lucrision's Hospital in Providence planned to reopen but instead turned into a memorial in 1995 to remember the victims of this horrifying attack.
After the attack, scientists nicknamed this disease "Human Necroziting Syndrome," or HNS for short, because of the disease's (former) ability to destroy tissues and eat flesh. Not only does this disease get spread from someone who already has this syndrome, but from spores released from dead bodies. Here's how this happened: After Project ROD, a Parasitic Mutation Breach (PMB) occurred outside the research facility. (FYI.... A PMB is when living organisms are contracted with highly radioactive material and mutate into parasitic, rotted beings that consume any flesh.)
A vaccine (not really) was developed in 1976, which calmed down the media about this illness but it was later found to only treat the flesh-eating counterpart, not all other symptoms. (FYI.... They were still being sold to treat this symptom, but not as a vaccine, as medication.)
Local state governments responded to this by building special quarantine containment centers: QCC(s) for short. The first one opened around 1978, and about 10,000 people (as of 1979) were recruited to these containments. These QCCs were miserable experiences, described as "alive morgues" due to their unbearably small rooms. The rooms were described as nothing but a bed and a flickering ceiling light. Former staff members of these QCCs reported screaming, crying, attempted escapes, and suicides. "It was like living right next to Hell." QCCs suffered a lack of employment due to the experience of living it all, so in 1984, when security guards were barely present, three people managed to escape with this syndrome. Thomas Hutchinson, Alexander, and Phillip Williams broke out of quarantine, unwillingly spread this illness, and raised HNS's numbers. There were 15,229 reported cases in 1983, and in 1985 there were about 510,000 cases. After the horrifying spread, Tom, Alex, and Phillip were nicknamed "Patients Zero." This bacteria spreads fast, like STUPID fast. However, due to the large numbers, scientists may have the leads and research to develop a vaccine (but not a cure.)
A year later, scientists discovered that this disease mutates in different ways according to the individual, meaning there are various variants. There are three majority variants, all with other stages.
