It was 1972, when reports came about TVs getting "broadcast hijackings". Only a small town got this intrusion, probaly the reason for its' obscurity. This is how it happened (from actual eyewitnesses.) The broadcast was from WSCC-TV, a TBC affiliate.

This hijacking starts by displaying the color bars (a la Captian Midnight) while messages appear. "We have Special Information", and after that, "These Grievances have been a Purgatory for Too Long."
The color bars cut to a black screen, with heavy buzzing, and distorted "beeping". This turned out to be Morse Code, (but the source is still unknown, so no full translation might come soon.)
